Saturday May 26: The First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ of Bridgton’s Great American Pie Sale begins at 9 a.m. at Oberg’s Insurance and Real Estate Agency, 132 Main Street, Bridgton. Prices range from $10-15.
May 26: Northeast Chop Shop, 299 Roosevelt Trail, Windham, celebrates an open house from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. There will be a car show and bike show with live blacksmithing, airbrushing, pinstriping and bike fabrication demonstrations. A pin-up girl contest takes place with $250 cash award. All proceeds go to Maine Children’s Cancer Program. Free food, raffles, and art auction. Music provided by King Sickabilly and his Full Moon Boys.
May 26-28: On Memorial Day weekend, the Friends Of The Maine Wildlife Park will be conducting its annual plant sale. The Friends volunteer group helps out the wildlife park in many ways; this year fundraising specifically for a new and more spacious Canada lynx exhibit. Learn more about the Friends’ ongoing projects and enjoy great bargains on spring plants, including annual and perennial flowers, vegetables and floral baskets grown in their own greenhouses. There are hundreds of geraniums this year. The Friends’ pricing is substantially lower than area retail stores; and their greenhouse-grown plants are healthy, lush and strong. Any plants that are left over will continue to be sold in front of the Snack Shack well into June or until they are gone.
Monday, May 28: Sebago Historical Society and Spaulding Memorial Library cordially invite you to the Kick-off Celebration for “Home Ties: Sebago During the Civil War,” an online exhibit hosted by the Maine Memory Network, at Spaulding Memorial Library on Memorial Day at 12:30 p.m. Civil War-era refreshments will be served.
May 28: A Memorial Day Service commences at 10 a.m. at Standish Town Hall/Public Safety Building. Sponsored by The Standish Historical Society and The American Legion – Standish Memorial Post 128.
Wednesday, May 30: Rabies Clinic at the Sebago Lake Congregational Church, 410 Northeast Road (Route 35, Sebago Lake Village) 5:30-6:30 p.m. $10 per pet. Cash only, no check. Please bring previous rabies certificate. Cats in cages, dogs on leashes. Vaccine administered by Standish Veterinary Hospital.
Thursday, May 31: Looking for another choice in education? Ossipee Valley Christian School (Pre-K through grade 8), located at 1890 North Road in Cornish, is holding an open house from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Take an opportunity to tour the facility, chat with the staff, and meet with the headmaster, Scott Weirick. May 31: The Gray Republicans are sponsoring a Meet & Greet event for candidates for the Legislature and for the U.S. Senate at the Gray Town Hall from 6-9 p.m. Susan Austin of Gray is running for the State House of Representatives, Chris Tyll of Cumberland is running for State Senate, and State Treasurer Bruce Poliquin is running for the U.S. Senate – the seat recently vacated by Senator Olympia Snowe. The general public is invited to meet and hear these candidates. Admission is free; refreshments will be served.

Recycle TVs, computer monitors, hard drives, laptops, printers, cordless phones, cell phones, VCRs, DVDs, audio equipment, stereos, speakers. No household appliances. Sponsored by Windham Hill UCC. Tuesday, June 5: Windham’s Monthly Grief Support Meeting sponsored by VNA Home Health & Hospice will feature James Miller’s Willowgreen Nature video from 6-7:30 p.m. at North Windham Union Church, 723 Roosevelt Trail, Windham. This is an open group for anyone grieving the death of a loved one.
