READING, Pa. — The Reading Phillies (23-15) took the lead for good with two runs in the sixth, and earned the 7-3 Eastern League win over the Portland Sea Dogs (14-25) Wednesday afternoon at First Energy Stadium.

The loss put an end to Portland’s attempt to sweep the Phillies on the road for the first time in franchise history.

After a scoreless first inning, Portland took a 1-0 lead when Ryan Dent scored on a single by Heiker Meneses and an error. The lead was 2-0 when Reynaldo Rodriguez picked up an RBI, scoring Ronald Bermudez.

Portland starter Chris Hernandez cruised through the first three frames before he ran into trouble in the fourth.

The Sea Dogs tied the game when Trevor May walked Zach Gentile to force in a run.

But, Miguel Abreu scored the go-ahead run in the sixth, and Reading pulled away from there.
