PHIPPSBURG — Howard Schuman, formerly of the University of Michigan and now retired and living in Phippsburg, received a grant from the National Science Foundation to investigate the origin and development of the civil rights movement.
The grant goes through the Institute for Social Research in Ann Arbor, Mich., and supports salary for two research associates working with Schuman.
