WELLS — Freeport High School wiped out a 4-3 firstinning deficit and went on to beat Wells 8-5 in Western Maine Conference baseball action on Wednesday.

Kaleb Farmer worked the first inning and Sawyer Williams finished up. The duo combined on a five-hitter with five strikeouts and two walks.

In Freeport’s 10-hit attack, Connor Dietrich had three singles and two RBIs, Farmer two singles and two RBIs, and Nick Cartmell two singles and an RBI.

Cole Boston had a two-run double in the first inning for Wells, and Louie Ditomasso added a run-scoring double.

Freeport improved to 8-4 and visits Lake Region today (4 p.m.).

MT. ARARAT 0

The host Eagles improved on an earlier 27-4 loss to the Blue Devils, but a key throwing error led to three sixth-inning runs as Mt. Ararat fell to 2-9 in Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference play.

Lewiston hurler Corbin Hyde struck out 13, walked one and permitted four hits for the win as the Blue Devils improved to 8- 3. Alex Small and Luke Cote each doubled.

Mt. Ararat, which hosts Skowhegan at 4 p.m. on Friday, received a solid start from pitcher Joey Van Note, who allowed just one earned run, five hits and three walks with five strikeouts.

At the plate, Joe Ashouwak led the Eagles with two singles. Torrey and Trent Charnock both singled.

LISBON 2

The visiting Ramblers scored all six of their runs in the third inning en route to a Mountain Valley Conference win at Lisbon Falls.

Tyler Foster picked up two RBIs with a single in Winthrop’s (5-3) big inning, while Drew Stratton singled twice of two of his team’s three hits.

Lisbon (4-6) pitcher Ryan Riordan went the distance. He walked five and struck out 11.
