To celebrate Maine Arbor Week, students, staff and parents of Woolwich Central School, along with town administrators, recently planted fruit and maple trees at the site of the new school, slated to open in September. Kindergartners, fourth- and eighthgraders, working with Bath city arborist Tom Hoerth, planted 25 trees to create a new “outdoor lab” orchard area. Fruit trees were sponsored by alumni, parents and teachers, and the sugar maples were funded through a grant from the Maine Forestry Service and Project Canopy.
