FREEPORT — After northbound travelers on Interstate 295 reported seeing a person using a hypodermic needle in a white Pontiac Grand Am, Freeport police arrested a Lewiston woman riding in the vehicle for illegal possession of painkillers.
Alicia L. Lapaz, 28, was arrested Sunday afternoon after a search discovered 14 oxycodone pills, two codeine pills, and one suboxone pill in her possession.
Freeport Police Lt. Susan Nourse said that a search of the vehicle did not discover any liquids that could have been injected using a needle.
Lapaz was traveling with a male driver and another male passenger, neither of whom faced charges in connection with the stop made Sunday at 1:53 p.m.
