TOPSHAM — A group of young journalists recently visited the Mid Coast Chapter of the American Red Cross to present a check to Paul Clark, director of emergency services.

The group started out by writing a local newspaper that features diverse stories and photos, according to a May 3 release from the Mid Coast Chapter.

“The latest edition of ‘Kids Page’ included such articles as: how to build a hockey rink in your backyard, an interview with new kids in the neighborhood and an advice column called Dear Izzy,” the release states. “These entrepreneurs then sold dozens of copies to their friends and neighbors. All the proceeds from the latest edition of the ‘Kids Page’ were donated to the Mid Coast Chapter of the American Red Cross.”

“We are grateful to these young people for choosing the Red Cross as the beneficiary of their hard work and amazing creativity,” said Connie Jones, executive director of the Mid Coast Chapter. “We look forward to seeing many future editions of ‘Kids Page.’”

The Mid Coast Chapter of the American Red Cross is located at 16 Community Way in Topsham. Visit the chapter online at www.maineredcross.org/MidCoast.
