BRUNSWCK— In Brunswick Cal Ripken Baseball Majors Division action, Dick’s Sporting Goods of Lisbon got past Ray Labbe & Sons of Brunswick, 4-1.
Lisbon scored four runs in the first three innings to get an early lead. Strong defense and pitching did the rest, as the Lisbon pitchers combined for 10 strikeouts and a walk while only allowing four hits.
David Gordon, Kameron Labbe, Aaron Gary and Nate Girardin pitched for Labbe, giving up seven hits, with eight strikeouts and no walks. Zach Boyle scored the only run for Labbe in the first inning when he bunted for hit and advanced to second on a bad throw. With two outs, Gordon drove him in with an RBI single to center field.
Sam Dorval hit a single to right field in the second inning and Kyle Labbe stroked the ball into the leftfield gap for a double in the fifth inning.
Defensively, Miah Larrabee and Caleb Lisio played strong defense up the middle at shortstop and second base, while Logan Williams was solid behind the plate in saving some runs.
