GEORGETOWN — The Laura E. Richards Library opens for the summer season Tuesday.
The library will be open from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, as well as from 9:30 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Friday and Saturday, through Oct. 31.
“This schedule differs from the one previously announced, and it is hoped the change will not inconvenience any Georgetown resident,” a release from the library states.
Library patrons will be able to download audio and ebooks in their homes with their new library cards, which are available at the library circulation desk. They are reminded to pick up their new card and also download directions. Also available for use at the library this summer is free access to Ancestry.com.
The annual book sale is scheduled to run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 14 at the Georgetown Historical Society, 20 Bay Point Road. Donations of books, tapes, DVDs, and CDs will be accepted at the library during regular hours.
For more information or to arrange for donation pickup, call 371-2134.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
You can read more here about our commenting policy and terms of use. More information is also found on our FAQs.
