WATERVILLE (AP) — A four-mile walk through Waterville has been organized to raise awareness for Ayla Reynolds, the toddler who’s been missing since Dec. 17.
Saturday’s Eyes Open Walk will begin and end at Waterville City Hall. It’s the latest of 10 events, which have also included vigils, a luncheon and birthday party, that have been held since the Waterville girl was reported missing by her father. She was 20 months old at the time.
Ayla’s disappearance has also led to searches throughout the city’s neighborhoods, waterways, woods and fields with no trace of the girl found.
The case has led to a division in the community between supporters of Ayla’s mother, Trista Reynolds of Portland, and father, Justin DiPietro of Waterville. Organizers hope to unite the two groups through Saturday’s walk.
