FREEPORT — The Cul de Sax saxophone quartet will perform a concert titled “Anything Goes,” honoring American composer Cole Porter, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Freeport Community Library.
The quartet of soprano, alto, tenor and baritone saxophones, will be joined by pianist Frank Vigneau. In addition to Porter’s music, the group will play a few pieces written by other notable composers of Porter’s era.
The performance will include sax solos with piano accompaniment, duets, trios as well as a vocal solo, and a piece played on the rare and seldom heard C-Melody saxophone that was popular during that period.
“Many of these arrangements were made especially for this performance,” a release from the quartet states. “Cul de Sax is now celebrating it’s 20th anniversary, and there will be a small reception after the concert.”
The concert is free and open to the public.
