WINDHAM – Greg Lodge scored four goals in a span of 3:39 before the close of the first half, all but assuring the Trojan’s fifth win of the season, 10-0 on the road at Windham. Trojans’ goalie Brett Levasseur only needed to make six saves to preserve a shutout as his team rolled to the win.

The Eagles (2-3) dropped their second game in a row after losing to Wells 7-3 on Monday. On Wednesday, the Eagles faced arguably their toughest test of the season as the Trojans (5-1) traveled to Windham riding a three-game winning streak.

The Eagles fell behind early as Thornton’s Josh Cyr scored just 53 seconds into the contest. Shawn Lynch and Parker Roma would each add goals for the Trojans to make it 3-0 after the first quarter.

The Trojans’ first quarter goals were more than enough as the Eagles struggled to maintain possession and clear their zone effectively.

After a somewhat shaky start, the Trojans were finally able to find their offensive rhythm thanks to the stern words of coach Ryan Hersey.

“We were honest with them,” said Hersey. “We told them that if they didn’t get their act together quickly they were going to come out. I think the guys kind of took that too heart.”

Leading the surge for the Trojans was Lodge, who scored his first of the game with 4:12 left in the half. He would add three more in less than four minutes before Parker Roma scored his second with just 1.7 seconds on the clock.

“It was tough for them,” said Hersey. “We were asking them to do two different things.”

“We were asking them to work the ball around but at the same time if you get a fast break opportunity or you work the ball around and its there we wanted them to take advantage of that. It was nice to see that we can whip off five goals in four minutes. Its nice to see that we have that ability after so many close games.”

While the Trojans’ outburst at the end of the second quarter certainly put the game away, it was their ability to thoroughly dominate the time of possession that allowed them to keep the Eagles at bay. The Trojans outshot the Eagles 29-6 and collected 37 ground balls as opposed to Windham’s 31.

“What has got us into a lot of close games and caused our loss against Cheverus is our inability to get the ball around, we were just trying to go, go, go,” Hersey said. “It was nice today to see us work the ball around and work on our passing and being patient.”

Cody Falton and Taylor Browne would add the final two Trojan goals late in the fourth to cap the scoring.
