FREEPORT — The Aquafina Pitch, Hit & Run competition was held recently at the Mast Landing School baseball field, with local athletes competing to advance to the Southern Maine Sectional, set for May 20 at the “Ballpark” in Old Orchard Beach.
There were three boys age groups and one girls.
In the 7-8 boys, Alek Gideon tied for first in the pitching with Anthony Panciocco and finished as the division’s overall winner with 629 points. Matt Kempf took the hitting category (172 points), while Blaine Cockburn was tops in the run (250).
Will Winter took first in both the pitching (225) and running (349), while Tucker Lapointe was tops in the pitching (230), but Will Mullen’s overall score of 687 took the 9-10 boys division.
And, in the boys 11-12 category, Jack Mullen scored 953 points off the strength of wins in the pitching (225) and running (446), with Jack Sawicki winning the hitting with 308 points.
Rachel Harmon took home the girls 9-10 title. She won the run (290) and ended up with 390 overall points. Regan Davis was first in pitching (75).
