CUMBERLAND — Alex Mitch scored her sixth goal of the game with 1:19 remaining as the Freeport High School girls lacrosse team overcame a big deficit in a 12-11 victory over Greely on a rainy Tuesday.

Down 11-5 at the half, the Falcons held the Rangers (1-3) scoreless in the second half while running off seven unanswered goals to improve to 2-2. Freeport looks to win its third straight game on Thursday at Fryeburg Academy (4 p.m.).

Julie Fosburg scored three goals for the Falcons, including the tying marker with 3:17 remaining.

Paige Tuller and Meg Finlay each had three goals for Greely.

Freeport put together two five-run innings and one sixrun frame en route to a 16-1 Western Maine Conference victory at York on Monday.

The 2-2 Falcons, who are scheduled to host Old Orchard Beach today at 4 p.m., received two doubles from Leigh Wyman and one from Lexi Dietrich.

Freeport pounded out 10 hits in all, with Danielle Perry, Hannah Chase and Andrea Grant each driving in two runs.

Wyman stymied the Wildcats’ bats on just three hits. She struck out six.

Marquis MacGlashing doubled and drove in the lone run for 1-4 York.

Boy lacrosse

Alex Croatti and Cameron Glover scored three goals each, and the Brunswick defense was solid as the 4-0 Dragons downed Lewiston (2- 3) in a key Eastern Maine Class A tilt, 7-6, on Friday at Brunswick.

Seth Holmblad scored a goal and joined teammates Mitchell Cooney and Chris Snyder with two assists each. Croatti dished out an assist, and the defense of Charlie Nau, Sam Bessey, Blake Bodwell and Nick Poole held the Blue Devils in check.

Brunswick goaltender James Wilgus had 11 saves, and face-off specialist Sam Fortin won 60 percent of his draws to give the Dragons possession.
