BATH — On Saturday, Woolwich Central School will host its annual Community Spaghetti Supper to benefit the eighth-graders trip to Washington, D.C.
The trip is planned in June each year.
This year’s meal will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Huse School, located at 39 Andrews Road in Bath. The evening is hosted by the seventh grade class and signals the beginning of its fundraising efforts for the 2013 trip.
Part of the civics curriculum, the four-day trip features hands-on activities for students, including meeting with Maine’s two senators, laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, visiting the presidential and war memorials, and, when available, a tour at the White House. The entire cost of the trip, which exceeds $20,000, is raised by the seventh-graders through private donations. Typically, students raise funds for two years.
The spaghetti supper includes a homemade sauce, salad, bread, dessert and beverage. Admission is $6 for adults, $4 for seniors, $3 for children younger than 12 and is free for children younger than 3. A family ticket is also available for $20.
In addition to the food, the evening features a 50-50 cash raffle and silent auction. For more information, contact Betsy Lane at Woolwich Central School at 443-9739 or blane@rsu1.org.
