BRUNSWICK — Nearly 2,000 Harpswell residents went without electricity for an hour Friday morning after a power line on Orr’s Island Road came down.

Gail Rice, Central Maine Power spokeswoman, said that 1,849 customers lost power from 7:35 a.m. to 8:40 a.m.

A cause for the downed line was not identified. Records from the National Weather Service indicate that wind speeds in Portland reached up to 33 miles per hour Friday.
