BRUNSWICK — A 49-year-old Brunswick man was struck by a car while riding his bicycle Friday afternoon on Harpswell Road.
David Drehobl, 49, of Chamberlain Avenue was riding north on Harpswell Road near College Street just before 3:45 p.m., when he was struck by a 2007 Subaru driven by 63-year-old Donna Lemieux of Bucksport, Deputy Chief Marc Hagan of the Brunswick Police Department said today.
Lemieux, who was also traveling north, apparently pulled into the oncoming traffic lane to drive around Drehobl’s bicycle, but returned to her lane to avoid an oncoming car and struck the bike, Hagan said.
Lemieux was not injured. Drehobl, who was not wearing a helmet, sustained bruises, but was not taken to a hospital.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
