BRUNSWICK — Today marks the official start of Ivies Weekend at Bowdoin College.
For the third year in a row, the main Saturday afternoon concert of the spring weekend will be held at the college’s Whittier Field and not on the college quad.
Admission to the event, the Bowdoin Orient reports, will be tighter than in past years as security officers will use a new registration and wristband system to keep track of student concert attendees and guests.
Students who bring guests, the Orient reports, will be responsible for their friends’ actions.
The weekend typically includes campus revelers at other locations as well, including the college’s Pine Street and Harpswell Apartments, located off of Harpswell Road.
This year’s Saturday concert will feature rapper Childish Gambino, the band Phantogram, and the disc jockey Milkman, according to the Orient.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
