WESTBROOK – It had been a while since Scarborough faced Westbrook in boys lacrosse, so the Red Storm didn’t go into Saturday’s game taking the Blue Blazes lightly.

But after opening up the scoring early in the first quarter, Scarborough found their way to an easy 17-1 win over the Blazes, opening their season on a high note.

After jumping out to an early lead, it was easy for Scarborough to never look back as they wreaked havoc on the Westbrook defense. The Blazes were rarely in possession of the ball, as Scarborough to controlled the tempo and had their way inside the Westbrook zone.

The pressure caused Westbrook coach Josh Plowman to call two consecutive time-outs in the first half. Plowman’s calls briefly energized the team, but the firepower of the Storm was too much to handle.

The Red Storm were led in scoring by Jon Blaisdell, who racked up four goals and an assist. Teammates John Wheeler and Jurian Garrison each added three goals of their own, while Wheeler made his presence known even further with six assists.

Westbrook’s Matt Cavanaugh looks to move the ball down field against Scarborough’s Dalton Finley on Saturday during the boys lacrosse season opener. The Storm handled the Blue Blazes in a 17-1 final.
