BOSTON – North Yarmouth native Ben True won his second consecutive Boston Athletic Association 5K Road Race Sunday morning, kicking past three runners on Boylston Street before the finish line that also serves for today’s 116th edition of the Boston Marathon.

True, 26, covered the 3.1-mile course that starts and ends near Copley Square and includes a jaunt around Boston Common in 13 minutes, 41 seconds.

A year ago, he won the race in 14:07.

“It’s a long finishing straight,” he said. “I told myself, just wait, just wait. Luckily, I had enough at the end and I was able to get by those guys.”

True won $4,000 for winning the race. Now training in Hanover, N.H., he said he plans to stay in Boston to cheer on his cousin, who is running Monday’s marathon in temperatures that are expected to surpass the record high of 84 degrees set in 2003.
