BEARS NOTES: The Bears, who still have a shot at obtaining the home-ice advantage over intrastate rival Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins for the opening round of the Calder Cup playoffs, are enduring a five-game losing streak. Veteran forward Chris Bourque, son of NHL Hall of Famer Ray Bourque, has 27 goals and 64 assists to lead the league in total points. Four months ago, veteran center Ryan Potulny scored two goals and had an assist to lead the Bears to a 7-1 victory against the Pirates at Giant Center in Hershey, Pa.
PIRATES NOTES: With two games left to play, the Pirates, who have won seven of their last eight games at the Civic Center, need to win to remain in the thick of the race for one of the final two Eastern Conference playoff spots. Since returning from a three-week stay in the NHL with the parent Phoenix Coyotes, veteran center Marc-Antoine Pouliot has scored four goals and had two assists in five games. Brett Sterling, another veteran forward, brings a four-game points streak into the game.
