COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) — Denmark’s navy says it has rescued 12 hostages and arrested 16 suspected pirates off the coast of Somalia.

The Admiral Danish Fleet says the Absalon warship halted a pirate ship off the African country on Wednesday and that the operation did not involve shots or injuries.

The Danish navy said Thursday that the 12 hostages from Iran and Pakistan had been held by pirates for a month.

The navy says the suspected pirates remain in custody, and officials are determining whether the suspects can be prosecuted.
