Participants gather at noon every Wednesday to discuss news and topics of local, national, and international interest and concern.
During the past month, moderators have based discussions on questions such as these:
— The United States today reserves the right to target enemies worldwide; how do you view the legitimacy of premature strikes?
— Is unlimited medical care a right for all or is it a privilege available only to those who can afford it?
— Should U.S. policy aim to increase the gap between rich and poor, narrow the gap, keep it the same, or ignore the entire issue?
— If the Syrian government backs down from its commitment to peace, what should be done next?
“People of diverse opinions are welcome and all attendees are given an opportunity to express their view,” a Midcoast Senior College release states. “The only rules are to share the floor and listen respectfully.”
The program is free and runs from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesdays.
