BALTIMORE — The University of Maine baseball team set a school record for runs as it beat Maryland-Baltimore County 32-14 to complete a doubleheader sweep Friday.

Alex Calbick and Tyler Patzalek each drove in six runs and Ian Leisenheimer had five RBI as Maine (14-14, 2-0 America East) broke the record of 27 runs set in 1976 against Husson. The Black Bears had 25 hits and were helped by 11 errors committed by UMBC (7-19, 0-2).

Calbick also hit a three-run homer in the opener, and Steve Perakslis (3-2) pitched a complete game as Maine won 9-3.

ST. JOSEPH’S 4, COLBY 2: Alex Lorenc had two hits and scored twice, and four pitchers scattered 10 hits for the Monks (19-2) against the visiting Mules (7-9) at Standish.

Nick Whittaker (3-0) relieved Tyler Laverriere in the fourth and pitched three innings for the win. Kyle Neagle pitched the ninth for his fourth save.

BATES 4, BOWDOIN 3: Nate Pajka hit a two-out, bases-loaded single in the eighth inning as the Bobcats (12-8, 1-3 NESCAC) edged the Polar Bears (11-8, 0-1) at Brunswick.

Mekae Hyde had three hits with two runs for Bates.

Tim McGarry had two hits with two RBI for Bowdoin.

SOFTBALL

UNE SWEEPS CURRY: Gabrielle LaRoche’s three-run homer highlighted a seven-run seventh as the Nor’easters (12-6, 6-3 Commonwealth Coast) rallied in the second game to finish a doubleheader sweep against the Colonels (16-10, 5-5) at Milton, Mass., 5-1 and 8-3.

Kelly Reid pitched a five-hitter with seven strikeouts and no walks in the first game. Lauren Rousseau broke the game open with a three-run double in the seventh.

BATES 10, COLBY 9: The Bobcats (8-6, 2-2 NESCAC East) scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh to rally past the Mules (4-11, 0-1) at Lewiston.

Alayna Garbarino tied it with a two-out, two-run double, then scored the winning run on an error.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE

ST. JOSEPH’S 16, ST. JOSEPH’S (CONN.) 4: Ameila Santos had five goals and the Monks (5-3, 4-2 GNAC) scored eight goals in each half against the Blue Jays (2-7, 1-5) at West Hartford, Conn.

TRINITY 11, COLBY 9: Lindsey McKenna had four goals for Colby (8-1, 4-1 NESCAC) in a loss to the Bantams (8-0, 5-0) at Hartford, Conn.
