Their children are Dana Libby and Laura Libby Jones of Bath, and Carole Libby Tetrault of Abbott. A son, Donny Libby, died in 2009 at age 59.

Herschel and Leona Henderson first met at a Morse High School basketball game in February 1940. Herschel’s good friend, Leon Pennell, and then girlfriend, Cora Durant, were planning on giving Herschel a ride home after the game. At the end of the game, Leon told Herschel that Leona also needed a ride home to North Bath, where she lived on Henderson’s dairy farm. The only problem was they would have to sit in the rumble seat of Leon’s 1931 Model A roadster. It was a cold February night, but they never felt the cold.
The 72- year love affair began in the rumble seat of their best friend’s Model A.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way.
