GORHAM – The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigated the third arson in Gorham in the past week after an abandoned house burned Sunday morning.

According to the Maine Department of Public Safety, Sunday’s fire, which occurred shortly before 7 a.m at a house on Great Falls Road, follows fires early Saturday morning at a former Grange Hall on Mighty Road and late Tuesday morning at an abandoned house on Stiller Road.

None of the buildings had electricity, and the fires have all been ruled arson.

A Gorham firefighter was injured by a bursting fire hose at the Great Fall Road fire.

A team of four state investigators have joined Gorham police and fire officials investigating the three fires. Residents are being asked to keep an eye on their neighborhoods, especially vacant buildings, and to report any suspicious activity. The Gorham police phone number is 839-5581 and the State Fire Marshal’s Office number in Augusta is 624-7076.
