FREEPORT — Two New Yorkers face drug possession charges after a traffic stop on Route 1 in Freeport uncovered small amounts of illegal prescription drugs.
Lt. Susan Nourse of the Freeport Police Department said that police received a call from a nearby Econolodge indicating that a man and woman had left cash and drug paraphernalia in a motel room.
Police were able to identify the vehicle and stopped a white Chevrolet sport utility vehicle to question 32-year-old Chaya Seewald of Brooklyn, N.Y., and 35-year-old Yizhak Nematnejad of Flushing, N.Y.
Nourse said that officers discovered that Seewald had fewer than 10 pills of Percocet, and Nematnejad had fewer than 10 pills of Adderol.
Both were arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a Schedule W drug. Nourse said officers did not submit a summons related to the discovery of cash or drug paraphernalia at the motel but that related charges could emerge from the district attorney’s office.
