BRUNSWICK — A 41-year-old Brunswick man pleaded guilty in Portland Superior Court last week to six counts of gross sexual assault against a child younger than 13 years old.
Lester H. Ambrose Jr., 41, of Brunswick, changed his initial plea of not guilty and pleaded guilty before Judge Roland Cole to the six counts, as well as to the Class C charge of possession of sexually explicit material of a minor under 12, according to documents obtained from the court.
Brunswick police arrested Ambrose on Sept. 7 and charged him with the Class A felonies, which took place between October 2006 and December 2010.
He was indicted in December 2011 for those crimes, as well as for the lesser Class C crime, which took place in Sept. 2011.
At his arraignment, Ambrose pleaded not guilty to the charges.
A jury trial was scheduled on several occasions earlier this year, but delayed when prosecutors proposed a plea offer. Ambrose accepted that offer and pleaded guilty on March 21.
The trial was continued until April 9 for sentencing.
