WATERVILLE — A man used a note and a threat of violence Sunday to rob CVS Pharmacy of an undisclosed amount of prescription medications.

The daytime robbery took place about 2:30 p.m. at the store on Kennedy Memorial Drive.

Sgt. Bill Bonney said investigators are reviewing security footage from the store and will process the man’s note for evidence, such as fingerprints and DNA.

The man is described as 19 or 20 years old, about 5 foot 3 inches tall with dark complexion — possibly from a tan, according to dispatch reports. The man was wearing a blue knit cap and a dark sweatshirt, and he had dark, curly hair obscuring his face.

According to dispatch reports, the man left a note on the counter saying he would shoot anyone who followed him, but store employees never saw a gun. After the man left the store, employees locked the doors and dialed 911.

Shortly after the robbery was reported, police were at the scene with guns drawn. Later, their search focused on Cool Street and its side streets.

There were several customers in the store at the time of the robbery, but few people knew a crime was taking place, Bonney said. The man acted alone in the store, but Bonney wouldn’t rule out the possibility he had accomplices waiting outside.

He added that police will release more details as the investigation progresses.

Mike DeAngelis, a corporate spokesman for CVS, wouldn’t comment on the incident Sunday. He said releasing details could hinder the case.
