Gelato Fiasco and the Brunswick Teen Center will once again partner to support Brunswick’s youth by holding a special scooping event on Thursday, April 5.

The Gelato Fiasco Flagship Store will donate all April 5 sales beyond the seasonal daily average to the Brunswick Teen Center. Last year, the event raised more than $2,500.

The Brunswick Teen Center Scoop-a-Thon will be held during the store’s regular hours of 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Volunteers, including principals, teachers, students, town officials, local sports team members and Bowdoin College students and administrators will serve as celebrity scoopers throughout the event.

Musicians will also perform during the afternoon and evening hours.

“We are very happy to join with our customers and our community to support the Teen Center for a fourth consecutive year,” said Joshua Davis, co-founder of The Gelato Fiasco. “Last year, we were blown away as nearly 800 people joined us to support Brunswick’s teens. We are delighted that this event not only assists the Teen Center, but provides a venue for the community to come together as one.”

The Teen Center, located at 35 Union St., is a program of People Plus. Adult volunteers and Bowdoin College student volunteers staff the center, working together to create a positive, fun and safe environment for area teens.

Membership at the center is free to greater Brunswick area teens in the sixth to 12th grades.

“This fundraiser is a unique and fun one bringing out much of the community with ‘special scoopers’ entertainment, and hundreds of gelato enjoyers,” said Jordan Cardone, Teen Center coordinator. “We have topped the money raised each of the past three years at this event. I hope everyone will come out April 5 to help make that true for our fourth year and support a great area program for teens!”

The Gelato Fiasco is located at 74 Maine St. in downtown Brunswick. For more information about the event, call The Gelato Fiasco at 607-4002 or the Brunswick Teen Center at 721-0754.
