CEDAR PARK, Texas – The Maine Red Claws suffered their third consecutive lopsided loss against the Austin Toros, losing 116-77 on Saturday night in an NBA Development League game at the Cedar Park Center.
The Red Claws set season marks for loss margin (39 points) and fewest point total, marking their third straight loss of 25 or more points.
Maine lost 114-87 at home against Austin on March 18 and 112-82 on Friday night. The Toros have won six straight.
The Red Claws (18-26) fell behind 19-11 following an 8-0 run midway through the first quarter, but rallied back to 23-20 on a layup by Maurice Almond, his 12th point of the game. Almond scored just six more points as Maine’s leading scorer made just 5 of 17 field goals. He was 8 of 9 on free throws.
The Toros (29-16) closed the quarter with a 12-0 run for a 35-20 lead.
Austin upped it to 62-42 by halftime and extended it to 41 during the fourth quarter.
Kenny Hayes had 13 points, Xavier Silas added 11 and Mike Gerrity finished with 10 points for Maine.
Julian Wright and Eric Dawson each had 18 points and combined for 21 rebounds for Austin, which held a 50-25 rebounding advantage.
