BOWDOIN — The FHC Community Education Foundation on March 9 announced that its spring 2012 scholarship winners are Jeremy Brown, Linnea Tilberg, Derek Gorneau, Courtney Mazur, Victoria Falconi, Taylor Dundas, Samuel Davidson, Chelsea Dupal, Gregory Hurley, Joseph Guidoboni, Monica Belanger and Stacey Wheeler.

The 12 recipients received awards of $1,000 each to be applied toward the purchase of books and academic supplies.

The FHC Community Education Foundation, founded by FHC employees and funded solely by donations, “supports higher education beyond the high school level for those who show a commitment to improving their local community,” an FHC release states.

Qualified applicants should be enrolled in a degree program at a recognized institution of higher education; be from the community of FHC, which includes children of employees, customers, vendors as well as other area residents; and be able to demonstrate their understanding of the value of education to their personal goals and to their local community.

Scholarships are open to any high school graduate enrolled in part-time or fulltime curriculum and are awarded for the fall and spring semesters.

During the past three semesters, FHC Community Education Foundation awarded more than 45 scholarships totaling $48,000.

Applications can be found at www.fh-co.com and will be accepted up to one month prior to the award dates, June 15 and Aug. 22. Applications are reviewed based on merit, financial need and the content and quality of the essay.
