MIA GARZA, a 5th-grader at Fisher Mitchell School in Bath, and 6th-grader Alex Gates of Bath Middle School recently won their school geography bees and qualified to represent their schools at the state Geography Bee to be held March 30 at the University of Maine. To qualify, each took a written test which was scored in Washington, D.C. The top 100 scorers in the state will participate in the state bee, and the winner of the state bee will represent the Maine at the national championships in Washington D.C.
