• A parent’s workshop will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the Gold Room on Warren Avenue in Portland. The workshop, put on by PCA (Positive Coaching Alliance) is part of an effort to provide a positive environment for young athletes.
The workshop teaches parents how to help their children get the most out of their sports experience, and how parents can help coaches and league administrators establish and maintain a positive competitive environment. The cost is $25 per parent. To register, call Frozen Ropes at 878-2600.

• Young free-throw shooters from throughout New England will converge at 10 a.m. March 24 at the Deering High gym for the regional championship of the Elks “Hoop Shoot” national free-throw contest.
The winner will advance to the national finals April 27-28 in Springfield, Mass.
• Southern Maine Community College announced the dates for its Seawolves soccer camp. The camp will be held from July 9 through July 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for boys and girls entering grades 4 through 9. The camp director, Tom Monroe, will return to lead the camp for the fifth consecutive year. Monroe has coached at the college, high school and club levels.
