BRUNSWICK — A Freeport man was treated and released from Mid Coast Hospital on Wednesday after he was struck by a car while riding his bicycle on Maine Street earlier in the day.

Paul Chenevert, whose age was not listed, was headed north on Maine Street on the correct side of the road just before 1 p. m. when a 2007 Chrysler driven by 84-year-old Armand Bernier of Orr’s Island pulled out of Longfellow Avenue and struck him, Deputy Chief Marc Hagan of the Brunswick Police Department said today.

Chenevert told police he laid his bike down in an attempt to avoid a collision, but was unable to prevent striking the driver’s door, according to Hagan.

Chenevert was taken to Mid Coast Hospital with “bumps, bruises and scrapes,” Deputy Chief Don Koslosky of the Brunswick Fire Department said today.

No charges were filed as a result of the incident.
