BRUNSWICK — Wild Oats Bakery and Café raised $1,300 for the Riverview-Brunswick 21st Century Community Learning Center Program (21st CCLC) during a day-long fundraiser on Feb. 12.

The eatery in the Tontine Mall was busy all day and “hopping during lunch time,” according to Riverview Foundation’s vice president Lynn Pulsifer.

“What a wonderful and heartwarming thing, to see so many people show up to support our community’s youth,” Pulsifer of Brunswick said in a release about the fundraiser.

A portion of proceeds from each sale at the bakery on Feb. 12 benefited 21st CCLC. Riverview staff were on hand to answer questions and inform customers about Riverview’s youth and adult programming.

Wild Oats also raffled a $100 scholarship for Riverview Youth Programming. The raffle went to Katie Robinson, a fourth- grader at Harriet Beecher Stowe Elementary School who attends Riverview’s Aspire After School program at the school.

A program table displayed literature, raffle items and Riverview vacation camp registration packets. Riverviewproduced movies and slide shows provided diners and visitors with insight into Riverview youth programming.

The Riverview-Brunswick 21st CCLC is funded by a fiveyear Department of Education grant in partnership with the Brunswick School Department. The programs offer after-school, vacation week and nine weeks of summer programming to Brunswick children enrolled in third through eighth grades. The programs target economically disadvantaged and academically low- performing students, with a focus on aligning hands-on activities with school day curricula.

Riverview Foundation plans to hold another fundraiser to support its Brunswick after-school programs at Big Top Deli on Maine Street from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. May 25.
