ORONO — University of Maine men’s ice hockey goalie Dan Sullivan was named the Hockey East Co-Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. He shares the honor with Parker Milner of Boston College.
It is the second time that Sullivan has been named Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week this season.
Sullivan recorded his second shutout of the season and fifth of his career as Maine blanked New Hampshire 1-0 on Saturday afternoon as Maine secured home ice for the Hockey East quarterfinals. He made 32 saves in the game, many in spectacular fashion.
Maine got the only goal that it needed from Brice O’Connor at 10:13 of the first period. Sullivan made 14 saves in the first period, seven in the second and 11 in the third.
Sullivan is 19-8-3 on the season with a 2.56 goals against average and a .908 save percentage. He ranks eighth in the nation with a .683 winning percentage.
