SOUTH PORTLAND — South Portland and Maine State police surrounded a home in South Portland Tuesday night after men suspected of robbing a Portland pharmacy were reported to be inside.

Portland Police Lt. Robert Ridge said the men entered the CVS Pharmacy at 1096 Brighton Ave. around 8 p.m.

One of the suspects wore a Halloween mask and black hooded sweatshirt. His hand was wrapped in a garbage bag. Ridge said the man made a threatening remark, indicating that he had a knife inside the bag.

The suspects fled with stolen items, but Ridge was not sure whether the items were money or drugs.

South Portland authorities located the suspects at a home on 26 Mardale Avenue. Ridge said state police sent six police officers to the scene, and in cooperation with South Portland police, surrounded the home.

Three suspects were taken into custody without incident, Ridge said. They are 29-year-old Ivan Papkee; 32-year-old Gustave Papkee; and 24-year-old Ryan Best. All face robbery charges.
