To the editor:
We would like to thank everyone who supported our third annual Coffee House at the Georgetown Community Center on Feb. 10.
The fifth and sixth grade classes from the Georgetown Central School organized and hosted this event to raise money for hand chimes for our music program.
We began planning the event in the fall. Students and their families, community members and staff collected or made items for a silent auction during the event. The students made centerpieces to decorate the Community Center and handmade crafts to sell at the Coffee House.
They photographed the auction items, posting them on the school website, and made posters to advertise the event. Entertainment was lined up, and this year’s event featured a hair styling station.
We made more than $2,200.
We would like to thank everyone who has supported our fundraising efforts through their contributions of time, musical talents or donations.
We would like to recognize the following people and businesses: Starbucks (Brunswick and Falmouth locations), Brookton Landscaping, Now You’re Cooking, Georgetown Pottery, Mooring Bed & Breakfast, The Cabin, Betty’s Restaurant, Café Crème, Bath Natural Market, Three Brothers Campfire Wood, Norumbega Oysters, Dahlov Ipcar, Sarah Kulis, Dory Kulis, Liz Reno, Sarah Mancini, Mark Irving, Karen Hasenfus, Courtney Weinkowski, Colleen Hudson, Nina Roth- Wells, Emma Roth-Wells, Joyce Devito, Bonnie Malsh, Susan Sandberg, Georgia Downs, Kathryn Polletto, Patti Scronce, Joanne Klonowski, Nancy Wright, the Beveridge family, Bill Burns, Cindy Crosson, Amy Martin, the Mann-Melanson family, Calla Barton, Hollis Farnsworth, Emma Goltz, Lauren Crosby, Mollie Crosby, Jennifer and Allen Goodrich, Jennifer Beaulieu, Sommer Maybee, Leisa O’Clair, Rick and Christy Snowdon, Jennifer Magliozza, Liane Compagna, Brian Swanson, Robin and Kenneth Minott, Karen and Todd Barabe, Charles Moore, Kenneth Bassett, Jay Morissette, Margaret Gableman, Mrs. Wolfe, Miss Polletto, Mrs. Saufler, Mrs. Aseltine, Miss Scronce, Mrs. Morissette, Mrs. Werwaiss, Mrs. White and Mr. Carlson.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
