Woman’s club
to meet
Westbrook Woman’s Club will meet at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 6, in Westbrook-Warren Congregational Church, 810 Main St.
Members are reminded to take socks to be wrapped for the domestic violence project. In addition, items will be accepted for sunshine baskets to be filled for delivery to Westbrook seniors.
Light refreshments will be served.
Triad supports seniors
Gorham/Westbrook Triad will meet Friday, March 9, at 8:45 a.m. in the Westbrook Public Safety Building, 570 Main St.
The Triad is a joint effort among senior citizens, community providers and law enforcement officials to promote safety for seniors.
News from afar
Eleanor (Edgerley) Grubb retired in January after serving 18 years as secretary and as administrative assistant to three mayors in Ashland, Ohio.
Grubb graduated Westbrook High School in 1962. A family member said after graduation, she traveled to California, where she met her husband. They eventually moved to his hometown of Ashland.
She was honored with a retirement reception along with a story in an Ohio newspaper.
Foxwood trip
Westbrook Eagles, 89 Saco St., is sponsoring a trip to Foxwoods on Saturday, March 31. The group will leave at 6:30 a.m. and will leave Foxwoods at 4 p.m.
Cost is $45. Make checks payable to Westbrook Eagles Auxiliary and submit by the deadline March 14. For more information, call Marsha Wildes at 228-4635.
Seniors to hear USM jazz group
A jazz group at the University of Southern Maine will entertain Westbrook Senior Citizens at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, March 5, at Westbrook Community Center on Bridge Street.
The seniors will dine on Thursday, March 15, at DiMillo’s Floating Restaurant in Portland and attend a Portland Players production of “A Few Good Men.”
Several trips are being planned. They include one to Worcester, Mass., on Sunday, March 25, for a Celtic dinner; a nine-day trip beginning Saturday, April 14, to Pigeon Forge, Tenn.; Flag Day, June 14, a motor coach ride to Harrisville, R.I., for a dinner show; and Alaska, Aug. 15-29.

Signup for kids series at library
Walker Memorial Library has announced registration for its next “1-2-3 Play With Me” series starting Saturday, March 3, 10:30-noon.
Caregivers and their children are invited each Saturday in March for learning and fun in a relaxed, open atmosphere. Walker holds “123 Play With Me” sessions twice a year with children ages 3-5 the focus during this session.
Children’s Librarian Nina Sachs said, “Sessions will be interactive for caregivers and their children with issues of dance, baby signing, vaccinations, nutrition, and more being discussed while children are engaged with play.”
It’s an opportunity to meet other caregivers and give children social interaction with peers.
