BRUNSWICK
The Maine Farmland Trust and Bowdoin College will host a public screening of eight short films documenting the diversity of Maine agriculture at the college Thursday night.
The showing will include remarks from John Piotti, who is the executive director of the Maine Farmland Trust. Piotti also served as director of the National Campaign for Sustainable Agriculture and has studied sustainable agriculture around the world.
According to a press release, Piotti’s comments will provide “an overview of what’s happening within farming in Maine,” prior to the screening of films produced by Cecily Pingree and Jason Mann, both of North Haven.
In a press release, Piotti said that the future of farming will depend on actions taken in the next few years.
“Everyone who eats has a role to play,” Piotti said.
After the screening, Piotti is scheduled to lead a panel discussion with local farmers who will take questions from the audience.
The event will begin at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Room 315 of Searles Hall and is sponsored by the college’s environmental studies program and dining services.
