BOWDOINHAM
Rescue crews were called to a crash on Route 24 in Bowdoinham at 9:52 p.m. Friday after a pickup truck struck a utility pole.
Chief Deputy Brett Strout of the Sagadahoc County Sheriff ’s Department, said Jamie Berry, 22, was driving north on Route 24 when he lost control of the vehicle on the snowy and icy road, and slid off the road into a utility pole.
The owner of the truck, William Berry, 67, was a passenger in the truck. Both occupants suffered minor injuries, Strout said, but reported being shaken up as a result of the crash. Both requested medical assistance.
Bowdoinham Fire and Rescue personnel responded, along with North East Mobile Health Services.
The pickup truck was removed by Rick’s Towing, and the utility pole sustained minor damage.
The sheriff ’s department responded to about eight reports of vehicles sliding off the road in slippery conditions between 7 p.m. Friday and 1 a.m. Saturday.
