PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Senior forward Rachel Riley scored 14 points to lead Rhode Island College over the University of Southern Maine 50-44 in the Little East Conference tournament championship Saturday at the Murray Center.
Junior guard Courtney Burns and senior guard Cynthia Gaudet both had 11 points for the Anchorwomen (24-3).
The Huskies (21-6) were led by senior forward Courtney Cochran’s 14 points and eight rebounds. Junior forward Haley Jordan got her third double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 boards.
RIC opened the second half with back-to-back layups from Riley and Burns for a 29-18 lead and allowed the Huskies no closer than seven points the rest of the way.
AMHERST 66, COLBY 52: Top-seeded Amherst (26-0) held off No. 4 seed Colby (19-7) in the semifinal round of the NESCAC tournament at Amherst, Mass.
The Lord Jeffs opened the game with 19-2 run and held a sizable lead through most of the game.
The Mules had a late 15-0 run to cut the lead to 12 points, 62-50, with 1:51 to play.
Jill Vaughn led Colby with 19 points, while Rachael Mack added 11 points and 10 rebounds.
TUFTS 55, BOWDOIN 40: Third-seeded Bowdoin College (19-7) started the game with an 11-0 run but finished with a disappointing loss to second-ranked Tufts (21-5) in the NESCAC semifinals at Amherst, Mass.
Amy Hackett led the Polar Bears with 12 points.
MAINE 45, STONY BROOK 40: The University of Maine (7-22, 4-12 America East) rallied late in the game to overcome a seven-point deficit to defeat Stony Brook (4-25, 1-15) at Orono.
Brittany Williams paced the Black Bears with 12 points.
EMMANUEL 68, ST. JOSEPH’S 57: Fiona O’Dwyer scored 24 points and hauled in 10 rebounds as top-seeded Emmanuel (22-6, 13-0 GNAC) proved to be too strong for second-ranked St. Joseph’s (20-8, 12-1) in the Great Northern Athletic Conference championship game at the Jean Yawkey Center in Boston.
Abby Young led the Monks with 11 points and nine rebounds.

AMHERST 97, BATES 74: Aaron Twoomey led all scorers with 26 points as top-seeded Amherst College (24-2) downed No. 5 Bates (13-13) in the NESCAC semifinals at Amherst, Mass.
The Bobcats’ scoring leader was John Squires with 22 points.

MIDDLEBURY 5, COLBY 1: Maggie Woodward scored twice during a five-goal second period as the top-seeded Panthers (19-3-3) scored four power-play goals in a quarterfinal victory over the No. 8 White Mules (6-17-2) in the NESCAC tournament at Middlebury, Vt.
BOWDOIN 3, WILLIAMS 2: Stephanie Ludy scored with 21 seconds left in overtime to give the third-seeded Polar Bears (12-9-4) a NESCAC quarterfinal victory against No. 6 Williams (11-14) in Brunswick.
PROVIDENCE 6, MAINE 0: Genevieve Lacasse made 38 saves for her seventh shutout of the season, a Hockey East quarterfinal victory for the No. 4 Friars (15-16-4) over fifth-seeded Maine (17-11-6) in Providence, R.I.

BATES SWEEPS OGLETHORPE: Nate Pajka homered in both games as Bates College defeated Oglethorpe University 7-5 and 6-0 at Atlanta. Bates is 5-2, Oglethorpe 2-4.
CLEMSON 9, MAINE 5: Spencer Kieboom’s three-run homer to left field capped a five-run fifth inning for Clemson, giving the Tigers (3-2) a 7-4 lead over Maine (1-1) in Clemson, S.C.
