MILWAUKEE – Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis scored a career-high 27 points to lead fourth-ranked Connecticut to an easy 85-45 victory over Marquette on Saturday.
The Huskies (26-3, 13-2 Big East) have won all seven meetings against Marquette and will face No. 3 Notre Dame on Monday night to try and earn a share of the conference regular- season title.
Even with a victory Monday, UConn will be the No. 2 seed in the Big East tournament because of tiebreakers.
Tiffany Hayes scored 18 of her 20 points in the second half, including 13 in the first seven minutes to help UConn blow the game open.
Mosqueda-Lewis scored 15 points in the first half to lead the Huskies to a 34-21 advantage at the break.
Katherine Plouffe scored 16 points to lead the Golden Eagles (13-15, 4-11), who have lost five straight and 9 of 10.
Mosqueda-Lewis scored eight points to spark a nine-point run that put the Huskies ahead 15-6 with 12:52 left to play in the first half.
Marquette pulled within seven at 21-14 on a pair of free throws by Arlesia Morse with 4:57 left.
(2) STANFORD 69, UTAH 42: Chiney Ogwumike scored 16 points and had 12 rebounds, older sister Nnemkadi Ogwumike added 15 points and five blocks and the Cardinal (26-1, 17-0 Pac-12) beat the Utes (13-14, 6-10) at Stanford, Calif., giving Coach Tara Vanderveer her 700th career victory with the Cardinal.
Vanderveer, a Hall of Fame coach, is fifth on the all-time coaching list with 852 wins.
(3) NOTRE DAME 80, SOUTH FLORIDA 68: Natalie Novosel scored a career-high 32 points, Devereaux Peters added 17 points and a career-high 18 rebounds, and the Irish (27-2, 14-1 Big East) held off the Bulls (15-14, 7-8) to win at South Bend, Ind.
(12) GREEN BAY 78, BUTLER 53: Julie Wojta had a double-double with 27 points and 13 rebounds as the Phoenix (25-1, 15-1) earned their 14th straight Horizon League title by beating the Bulldogs (12-15, 8-8) at Green Bay, Wis.
(15) GEORGETOWN 65, SYRACUSE 62: Sugar Rodgers scored 21 points, including a three-point play in the game’s last minute, as the Hoyas (22-6, 11-4 Big East) used a 5-0 run in the final 39 seconds to sink the Orange (17-12, 6-9) at Syracuse, N.Y.
