TOPSHAM — A month after its informal reopening, Rollerworld will hold a grand reopening celebration tonight.
Charlene Roberts, a comanager of Rollerworld, said the grand reopening will run from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Admission is $6 — which includes skate rental. An extra $2 is charged for inline skates. Parents or guardians who won’t skate will be charged $ 2 to enter.
Roberts said the evening will include give-aways, such as Coca- Cola products, ice hockey tickets and a free month-long membership. A Zumba demonstration is scheduled to take place in the middle of the rink.
Rollerworld has been cleaned, painted and the snack bar is open with a larger variety of food, including fried dough, Roberts said. The center also offers an arcade room with pool tables.
Roberts said the new management’s goal is to diversify what the facility offers. Currently, Rollerworld hosts a Zumba session on Wednesday and Sunday. Punk rope, a cardiovascular activity involving games incorporating jump ropes, occurs on Mondays.
The facility upgrade includes free Wi-Fi and a new sound system.
The new management plans to add teen dances, more fitness classes and a men’s roller hockey league, according to Roberts.
Rollerworld is still affiliated with Seacoast United, she said, which owns the facility and pays Roberts and a comanager to manage it.
Roberts thanked volunteers who helped refurbish the 20 Atwood Road center.
Skating costs $5 in the daytime and $ 6 in the evening (add $2 for blades). Hours are Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. (adult skate night); Friday, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.; Saturday, from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.; and Sunday, from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Zumba is offered — for an $8 drop-in fee — Wednesdays from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Sundays from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
For an $8 drop-in fee, punk rope is offered from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays.
Rollerworld still offers birthday parties and private rentals. For more information, call 358- 7875, visit www.topshamrollerworld.com or find Topsham Rollerworld on Facebook.
