Pot roast supper
A public “comfort food” supper will be held on Saturday, Feb. 25, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the Tuttle Road United Methodist Church, Cumberland. The menu includes pot roast and gravy, mashed potato, vegetables, salad and gingerbread with whipped cream. Adults $9, children 5-12, $5. The church is handicap accessible.
Democrats caucus
On Sunday, Feb. 26, at 2 p.m. at Windham Town Hall, Democrats in Windham will kick off the 2012 campaign season at the party caucus. Attendees select delegates to the Democratic State Convention, municipal ballot clerks, County Committee members, and discuss national and local policy issues affecting all Maine people. Democratic candidates, elected officials and representatives from Democratic campaigns will attend. Attendees are asked to bring their viewpoints, ideas and questions for discussion. People not currently registered in a political party, who would like to enroll as a Democrat may do so immediately at the town office or at the caucus. Bean supper
On Saturday, March 3, a baked bean supper will be held at White Rock Community Club, Wilson Road in Gorham. The public is invited to these “first Saturday” suppers held January through June, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. The menu includes two kinds of beans (pea and kidney), cole slaw, potato salad, macaroni and cheese, home made biscuits and pies. Adults, $7; children under 12, $3.
Thrift shop
North Windham Union Church Thrift Shop is located in the basement of the church, on Route 302 near Boody’s Corner, regular hours are 1-3 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, 10 a.m. until noon on Saturday.
Library Tea

Corned beef ?& cabbage
On Saturday, March 17, Field-Allen American Legion Post will hold a scholarship fund raiser, corned beef and cabbage dinner, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Windham Veteran’s Center. Cost per person will be $10 or $25 for a family. Proceeds will be used for local high school scholarships.
Windham Cancer Support Group meeting
Have you ever wondered what juicing is? Join Windham Cancer Support Group on Monday, Feb. 27 for the monthly meeting. This month the discussion will be about some of the pros and cons of whole fruits vs. juicing. This is a very informal meeting and time will be devoted to sharing experiences. On Tuesday, March 5, a Medicare seminar will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. One-on-one counseling with Medicare specialists will also be available from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call Southern Maine Agency on Aging to register or make an appointment – 396-6500. Owen O’Donnell, a benefit specialist from SMAA is in Windham every Tuesday at the same location from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. to provide information and assistance on a variety of benefits including fuel assistance, food stamps, tax and rent rebate and more. The town of Windham would like to remind all residential and commercial property owners to make sure that your street number is being displayed in a conspicuous location on the front of your home or business. Numbers should be at least 4 inches in size and of a contrasting color. If your structure is more than 50 feet from the road, numbers should be displayed on a post, fence or mailbox.
Living well for better health
Learn ways to cope with challenges such as tiredness, pain, stress and feeling down at Living Well for Better Health workshops, proven to work for people with arthritis, chronic pain, diabetes and other lifelong health problems. Topics include managing pain and fatigue, eating well, ways to get active and tips on talking with your doctor and family.
