BRUNSWICK — An Arundel father and son under indictment for multiple felony burglaries in Brunswick last fall face additional charges in York County after an alleged incident Sunday involving a third member of their family.

Joshua Croteau, 20, and Marc Croteau, 46, both of Arundel, allegedly ran a scheme in September in which they posed as tree trimmers while stealing jewelry valued at close to $5,000, as well as power tools and a television from three different homes.

Joshua Croteau is currently in the York County jail on the burglary charges, as well as failure to pay fines and failure to appear in court, according to Maj. William King of the York County Sheriff’s Office.

On Sunday, corrections officers at the jail ended a visit between Joshua Croteau and his mother, 45-year-old Lisa Croteau of Arundel, after they allegedly saw Lisa pass Joshua something that he placed in his shirt.

“A search revealed a balloon containing a marijuana joint and a package of Suboxone, along with drug paraphernalia,” a release from King said today.

When sheriff’s deputies went to the parking lot to tell Marc Croteau that his wife had been arrested, Deputy Shawn Sanborn allegedly found a small amount of marijuana inside the vehicle, according to King.

Marc Croteau was then arrested and charged with possession of a usable amount of marijuana and violation of conditions of release.

Lisa Croteau was released later on Sunday after posting $1,000 cash bail, according to King.

Marc Croteau and Joshua Croteau were scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday afternoon in Springvale Court.
