PORTLAND — Oakhurst Dairy, northern New England’s largest independent familyowned dairy company, recently announced that its 12th annual Egg Nog campaign to support the Salvation Army of Northern New England raised $19,500.
According to a news release, the dairy donates five cents for every container of Oakhurst Egg Nog and Lite Egg Nog sold during the holiday season. To date, the company has donated more than $200,000 to the Salvation Army of Northern New England through this annual tradition.
The Salvation Army of Northern New England consists of 23 corps community centers throughout Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. Each center will receive a portion of the funds raised by Oakhurst Dairy. The funds will be used in a variety of ways, ranging from providing meals to after-school tutoring.
“Because of Oakhurst Dairy’s Holiday Egg Nog promotion and their loyal consumers, the Salvation Army is able to provide assistance and programs for children, adults and seniors. We value our relationship with Oakhurst Dairy and the 12 years of this joint venture. We look forward to many more years of working together to serve those in need in the community,” said Major James LaBossiere, divisional commander of the Salvation Army.
Oakhurst Dairy President and Chief Executive Officer Bill Bennett presented a check to LaBossiere to benefit the Maine community centers on Feb. 9.
“We are committed to the health of our communities, and the Salvation Army of Northern New England plays a big role in making a difference in the lives of so many families,” said Bennett. “Each year we look forward to our egg nog appearing in stores so that we can help support the important work of the Salvation Army across the region.”
