BRUNSWICK — Bowdoin sophomore forward Colin Downey has been named the NESCAC Player of the Week.
Downey recorded six points, including the gamewinning goal in both of the Polar Bears’ road victories this past weekend.
After netting a goal and three assists in Friday’s 9-2 win at Tufts, Downey collected a goal and an assist in Saturday’s 6- 4 victory at Connecticut College, scoring the decisive goal in the third period.
The impressive weekend performance vaulted the twoway forward to fourth in the league with 29 points. He has netted eight goals to go with 21 assists this winter.
Downey shared this week’s Player of the Week honor with Amherst goaltender Jonathan La Rose.
The two victories helped Bowdoin clinch the second seed for the upcoming NESCAC Tournament. The Polar Bears will host Trinity in a NESCAC Quarterfinal game on Saturday at 4 p.m. at Sidney J. Watson Arena.
