FAIRFIELD ( AP) — The president of Maine’s Kennebec Valley Community College in Fairfield is going to be staying on.
President Barbara Woodlee announced her retirement in the summer of 2010, but two national searches didn’t find a viable candidate to succeed her so she’s agreed to stay on the job.
The 65- year- old Woodlee has been at Kennebec Valley for 36 years.
Woodlee tells the Kennebec Journal she will consider retiring again at some point in the future.
For now, Woodlee is going to continue her work with the college.
In January, the college acquired 690 acres and 13 buildings from a now-closed residential school for at-risk youth. The purchase will allow the college to expand its campus, enrollment and course offerings.
